Our Story – How It Started
Simms was born in my mother’s kitchen in Kingston, Jamaica a place where food was always about more than simply eating. Growing up, Sundays felt like special occasions.In our culture, we would prepare a generous feast and invite family and friends to join us, or deliver a plate to Grandma’s house.While I often wanted to play with my friends or watch cartoons, my mother would bring me into the kitchen and teach me how to cook.That was where my culinary journey began. After only a few months of learning beside her, Momma trusted me to prepare Sunday dinner on my own while she got ready for the week ahead. At just 11 years old, I began to understand the remarkable power of sharing a meal together. I watched family and friends come together around the table, leaving past disagreements behind as they shared a beautifully prepared meal.They laughed, told stories from their childhood, danced, and created new memories together. Those moments shaped the heart of Simms.Today, we continue that tradition by creating thoughtfully curated culinary experiences that bring people together.Because for us, food is not simply something we serve it is a way to connect, celebrate, and create memories that last long after the final plate has been cleared
How It’s Going
The experiences from my mother’s kitchen followed me into my own, where I began hosting Christmas celebrations, birthdays, and dinners. Wherever I cooked, the response was always the same: “When will you cook for us again?” or “Mr Simms, when will you open a restaurant?” After moving to France, I discovered something special: combining refined French cuisine with the vibrant Jamaican flavours of my childhood.The incredible response helped me realise that cooking was more than a talent it was a God- given gift that my mother had nurtured from an early age.That gift became Simms. Established in Paris in 2022, Simms now creates memorable culinary experiences from intimate dinners for two to weddings and events for up to 120 guests.
